RACHEL JEANTEL: I just want to give a round applause to Rachel Jeantel. If you don’t remember Ms. Jeantel, she was the last person to speak to Trayvon Martin before his brutal murder and was a trial witness during the Zimmerman trial. Sadly, Jeantel received heavy national criticism because of her appearance and speech. At the time, Jeantel’s reading level was comparable to that of a third grader. Following the unjust trial, Tom Joyner offered tutoring and mentoring sessions in which Jeantel accepted. Jeantel became devoted to 7 hour tutoring sessions and graduated high school this spring. She has hopes to continue on to college (Tom Joyner has kept his promise and vows to pay the full tuition and fees for four years if she goes to any HBCU she wishes to attend). You go girl!

#IAMJADA: Have you seen this hashtag lately? Well let’s get to the story behind the hashtag. During the month of June, 16 year old Jada went to a high school party at a friend’s home. Thus, she was offered a drink that she believes was spiked. She has no memory of what occurred after. Days later, pictures of her semi-naked body began to show up. To make matters even worse, internet trolls posted her picture of her semi-naked limp body with the hashtag #jadapose. Jada later found out that she was raped and drugged by individuals she called friends. Her alleged rapist later mocked Jada on the social network, “Twitter”. Let me tell you what this young boy posted on his twitter. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING:
“HOW ITS RAPE? YOU HAD 2 MONTHS TO SAY SOMETHING BUT YOU AINT SAY SHIT TILL YOU GET EXPOSED?” -@WhiteboyLaflare
“That hoe forced, snitched, and still look like a fiend from deadend” -@WhiteboyLaflare
UGHHH !! DISGUSTING, Houston police are currently investigating the attack.#IStandWithJada #JusticeforJada

A FALLEN ICON: Rest in peace to Alice Coachman. Ms. Coachman became the first black woman to win a gold medal in the Olympic games in 1948. She was called home Monday at the age of 90!

WHITE PRIVILEGE CAMPAIGN: GoFundMe.com user Yaya M. has me crackling for real ha! Ms. Yaya has created a go fund me campaign in which she “needs come white privilege”. Her end goal is at 135,000 – she has prepared such number by averaging her work history with the monetary disadvantage. She has received close to 4,000 donations by more than 200 people in the last four days. Yaya is offering black privilege in exchange for support. Here at the reward levels, “touch Yaya’s natural hair without asking ($15, sold out) translations of up to five words/phrases from Ebonics to “White American English” ($35), to a copy of her grandmother’s collard greens recipe ($100, sold out), to having Yaya “dress like a cop and harass you on the street for what will seem like no reason” ($200) — the $250 donation prize is the same as $200 except someone will record it and post it on WorldStarHipHop.com”. Many are on the fence of it being insulted or hilarious. Personally, it’s the truth on what occurs between the disparities between minority and whites in the workplace – I think she had a creative approach to bring something to light. Girl, you crazy! Ha.

I have found my one true love…

I have found the filling to my voids…

The dam to the streams of tears

I have found my one true love…

And it’s been here all along

Standing right in front of me…

How could I have been so oblivious?

To not see you standing there

Being my crunch when my knees buckled

Holding me while I pillowed in clouds of emptiness

Whispering sweet nothings when there were somethings

How could I not have known?

As you lifted my burrowing brows

Redefining my smile lines

Tickling my hidden laughs out of me

You were here all along

Patching my bruised heart

Holding your hands out and catching me

You were always here

Loving me

Letting me be me

Loving me

Letting me see me

Loving me

Letting me hear me

Loving me

For me

I have found my one true love

When the Honeymoon is Over

The honeymoon is over

Isn’t it sensational–
When the conversation between the two of you seems so natural
It’s like….
An almost instant love making between your words and tongues
And the heating between your bodies warms the emotions in your stomachs
Rising like baking bread in the oven with an aroma that tangles in the bed sheets under you
Looking into each other’s eyes as though pushing back the blinds and seeing the sun for the first time
Isn’t it sensational-
As the caterpillars in your inquisitive belly digests itself into butterflies
And the silent clock of your heart’s beating ticks to the stampeding of minutes
While your running legs seem to falter with a new weakness of the knees
Isn’t it sensational-
When the first moment of the waking hour alarms your mind to them
Me… becomes…We and I becomes us… fitting perfectly like snuggled hands
But that’s until the honeymoon is over
Isn’t it hurtful-
When the conversation becomes silent
And the silence speaks volumes
And your heart hums the melody while theirs mutes it
Isn’t it hurtful-
When the heating becomes coldness
And the flurries hush the butterflies
And the clouds cover that once beautiful sun that left you in awe
Isn’t it hurtful-
To feel the presence of a heart that once beat in glee
And you want to tap your chest to comfort the pains
Yet your arms are occupied with holding the burdens
And the eyes you once stared into are just empty rooms
And the tongues that once rolled into natural conversations become restless
For your mouth has been soured by the staining of tears
And your we becomes me and us becomes I
Isn’t it hurtful…?
